Reading Watermelon

As part of ZINE YO! FEST in September 2025, I hosted a workshop titled Reading Watermelon: Poem-Zines for Palestine where participants made zines that celebrate the writing of Palestinian and Palestinian diaspora poets. In this workshop, participants read Palestinian poetry, selected poems that resonated with them, and constructed zines of these poems. Participants were shown various zine-making techniques, but encouraged to exercise their illustrative and crafty creativity in response to the individual poems they selected. The zines participants made were showcased for the rest of the fest duration. The workshop was by donation with proceeds going to Palestinian families in need.
